Why This RHOA Star Quit The Show After Just One Season

If Brit Eady has reminded viewers of anything, it’s that some people aren’t ready to be Housewives. Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was a large deal for newbies Angela Oakley, Kelli Ferrell, and Brit Eady. Joining one of the more successful franchises with three icons like Kenya Moore, Porsha Williams, and Phaedra Parks was enough to skyrocket their reality TV careers. Brit had different plans, however.

The shapewear designer decided that one season was enough for her and left, not just the series, but Bravo, on a sour note. Between skipping the reunion and filing a lawsuit, it’s safe to say Brit has made her bed and is done with being a Housewife after just one season.

Brit Eady Left RHOA After One Dramatic Season

In July, Brit Eady made an official announcement on Instagram that the one-hit wonder was leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Considering her ending in Season 16, her departure didn’t surprise fans.

The former Housewife thanked her loyal friends and family for supporting her journey. “As I close this chapter, I want to thank everyone who supported me, my friends, my followers, my amazing team, and everyone who defended my name.”

“I decided to walk away from something that no longer serves me because I choose peace over destroying my mental.”

She continued, “It’s very easy to say what I should have done, when most have not walked a day in my shoes. I choose ME, and a lot of [people] can’t say they choose themselves. I still have a lot of healing left to do, but you can’t heal in the same place that made you sick. I don’t owe anyone closure, I only owe myself to do what’s best for me. My journey here is done.”

Fans in the comments section did not hold back. Many were bothered that she skipped the reunion. Others were disgusted by some of the things she said during arguments in Season 16 and were happy she was gone.

Brit Eady Chose To Skip The Reunion

In the three-part reunion, the Housewives were surprised that Brit didn’t show up to answer some important questions thrown her way during the season. Host Andy Cohen expressed his disappointment considering her decision was at the last minute. She explained her decision on Instagram, according to People.

““The events of this season have devastated me, and while I cannot say much right now, I do want to set the record straight about one thing: the graphic sexual photo surrounding the events in Episode 5. That photo was not me.”

The photo to which Brit is referring is one of photographic nature that Kenya Moore printed out to embarrass Brit, and showed to a large group of people during the opening of her hair spa.

“As the episode makes clear, I did not see the photo at the time,” she wrote. “Rather, I was made aware of the photo being presented at the event, and based on what l was told, assumed that it was somehow a photo of me – which is why I reacted in the way that I did.”

Brit finalized her comments by saying, “I do not know who was in that photo, but upon seeing it for the first time recently, I now know it was not me. I look forward to seeking accountability and moving past this dark part of my life.”

Kenya’s decision to allegedly show explicit photos ultimately got her suspended, and later, fired from RHOA.

A Closer Look At Kenya Moore And Brit Eady’s Feud

Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was a season fans were looking forward to simply because icons like Kenya Moore, Cynthia Bailey, and Porsha Moore were returning. Phaedra Parks was rumored to join the series but didn’t appear until mid-season.

Known for her quick wit and confident responses, Kenya Moore set the tone for the season. However, Brit was also gearing up to go head-to-head against the long-standing Housewife to make a name for herself.

The dissolution of Porsha Williams and Shamea Morton’s decades-long friendship is one of the saddest things to come from Real Housewives of Atlanta

According to Collider, in one of their first scenes together, Kenya remarked about Brit’s updated wedding band. Brit quickly took offense, and it was off to the races.

  • Things got heated at Angela’s dinner when Brit complained about Kenya’s hug, and later asked Kenya why she was so bothered by her. Kenya saw that Brit was trying to make a name for herself in the series, but was going about it in the wrong way.
  • When leaving the dinner, Brit was escorted out by her husband while she made threatening claims to Kenya that involved a gun.

On an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Brit later apologized for her threats towards Kenya and claimed she didn’t have a gun. An internal investigation was underway, and it was concluded that no gun was on the premises.

While many viewers and Housewives were confused about why Brit got so heated in a short frame of time, Kenya took matters into her own hands. The following episode showed Kenya embarrassing Brit by exposing her past, showing X-rated images of Brit to a large audience. Many agreed that Kenya took her retaliation too far.

Kenya was suspended from filming RHOA while an investigation was underway, and later fired from Season 16. Kenya denied the revenge p*rn allegations, but a decision was made.

According to Newsweek, Keya told The Tamron Hall Show, “Things took a really dark turn toward me … There were threats in my direction. I told the producers I’m concerned, I’m scared … and they made me feel like I was being a Black Karen. You can’t invalidate my feelings.”

From infidelities to an alleged love child, Season 16 newcomer has been open about the strain on her marriage on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

While Brit is no longer a part of RHOA, Kenya’s future is up in the air. As viewers know, sometimes producers give Housewives a break during tough times before bringing them back to a larger scale.
